Odisha Matric Exam: Dip In Pass Percentage, Girls Outshine Boys

Cuttack: A total of 70.78 per cent of students cleared the annual Matric examination conducted by Board of Secondary Education (BSE), the results of which were announced by the principal secretary, School and Mass Education, Pradipta Mahapatra at the headquarters office of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) here on Tuesday.

This is much below the last year’s result of 76.23%.

The Regular and Ex-Regular pass percentage is 72.35 and 37.43 respectively.

Mahapatra said out of 5,87,780 students, who had filled up the form for the examination, 5,62,213 had appeared for the examination of which 3,97,125  have cleared the examination.

In terms of grades, 1181 students have secured A1 grade, 9938 (A2), 24,991 (B1), 46,319 (B2) and 76,139 have secured C grade.

The minister said going by the number of the pass students, the girls have outshone the boys this year. As against 1,91,655 boys, 2,05,470 girl students have cleared the examination.

With regards to district-wise pass results, Jharsuguda topped the chart with 85.48% with Koraput at the bottom with a pass percentage of 50.61.

As many as 82 schools ended with nil results compared to 36 last year, Mahapatra said. He said the department will review the performance of these 82 schools and appropriate action would be taken against the concerned teachers and headmasters.

There has been a drastic dip in the number of schools attaining 100% results as it fell from 429 to 289 this year, he added.

Mahapatra said that apart from the Matric results, the pass percentage in Madhyama examination this year is 84.62 as against 92.47 last year. Out of 3563 students, 3015 have cleared the examination, he added.

He said the results have been uploaded on the BSE website  www.bseodisha.nic.in and www.bseodisha.ac.in.

Students having no internet facilities can get their results through SMS by typing OR10 <ROLL NO> and sending it to 5676750.

Besides, the Board has set up two helpline numbers 0671-2412059/2412060 to receive complaints from the students and guardians.
