Ganjam/Koraput: A total of 70.78 per cent of students cleared the annual matric examination conducted by Board of Secondary Education (BSE), the results of which were announced on Tuesday.
This year, a total of 48,306 regular students appeared the examination in Ganjam district. Of them, 34,703 students passed in the exam. The pass percentage in the district is 71.85. A total of 170 students in Ganjam district have scored A-1 grade, which is the highest in the state.
Likewise, 1,112 of 2,558 ex-regular students have cleared the examination. The pass percentage is 43.86. One ex-regular student has got A-1 grade.
The matric examination was conducted at 225 centres in the district.
While 1,004 students passed with A-2 grade, 2,238 with B-1 grade, 3,926 (B-2 grade), 6,512 (C grade), 10,162 (D grade) and 10,691 (E grade).
A total of 13, 593 students flunked the exam.
Koraput district, which had done well in the past, saw a pass percentage of only 50.61, a monumental dip from 70.99 in 2018 and 92.63 in 2017. In 2016, 95% student had cleared the examination.
District Education officer Dr Pramod Kumar Panda said that they would analyze the results and initiate action against teachers, if required.
He further said that they would consult educationists, teachers and administrators and put in place a plan to help students score better next year.
