Bhubaneswar: School and Mass Education minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Sunday said Class X students appearing for the annual Matric exams in Odisha this year will have to answer 80 marks in each paper.
The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) has decided that 50 marks will comprise objective questions in the OMR (optical mark recognition) format and the remaining 30 marks will be subjective, the minister added.
However, the overall valuation in each paper will be for 100 marks. Dash explained that 20 marks will be evaluated on the basis of the percentage secured by an examinee from the given 80 marks in that paper.
The results will be announced within 45-50 days, he pointed out.
The minister further said a decision on the reopening of hostels will be taken later after reviewing the COVID-19 situation.
Earlier on Saturday, the Odisha government had announced that schools for Classes 10 and 12 students will reopen on January 8.
A circular released by the School and Mass Education Department said examinations for Class 10 will begin on May 3 and conclude on May 15 while Plus II students will appear for the board exams between May 15 and June 11.
