Bhubaneswar: Odisha might again experience cold wave from December 11 bringing in the wintry feel.
According to Dr Sarat Chandra Sahu, former director of Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, most parts of Odisha had come under intense cold wave by December 10 last year. But it has not been felt this year due to change in weather conditions.
“Normally, cold wave is felt across Odisha from the last week of November due to the blowing of the northerly wind from the Himalayan Range. The cold wave had gripped Odisha as usual in the last week of November this year. However, the weather conditions changed drastically during the month due to the sudden change in the wind direction resulting in the rise in the day temperature,” he said.
Sahu said that the average night temperature in the Odisha capital in the first week of December should be 16 degree Celsius. Due to the change in the wind direction, there has been a rise in the night temperature which is most likely to go up to 18 degree Celsius in the next 48 hours by December 5.
He, however, said that going by the modular study, there will be a change in the weather condition in the state after December 10 which will be favourable for cold wave and bring down the temperature.
