Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to witness a gradual rise in the night temperature after 4 days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Friday.
“No large change in minimum temperature during the next 4 days and thereafter gradual rise by 2-3°C over the districts of Odisha.”
The weather agency also warned of foggy weather conditions till December 31. Dense fog may occur during early
morning hours at isolated pockets in districts of Kandhamal, Koraput, Kalahandi and Nayagarh till December 27 morning. Similar weather conditions may prevail in Kandhamal, Koraput, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul and Khurda during the subse
quent 24 hours, and Khurda, Puri and Jagatsinghpur till December 30 morning. Dense fog warning has been issued for Balasore and Gajapati during the next 24 hours, till December 31 morning.
In the last 24 hours, a blanket of thick fog was seen in Nayagarh, Phulbani, Koraput and Bhawanipatna.
Koraput was the coldest in the state at 4.8°C, followed by Semiliguda in Koraput at 6.3°C, Daringbadi in Kandhamal at 6.5°C, Jharsuguda at 7.2°C, Phulbani and G Udayagiri, also in Kandhamal, at 7.5°C and 7.8°C, respectively. The other places where mercury plummeted below 10°C include Rourkela (8°C), Kirei in Sundargarh (8.3°C), Nabarangpur (8.5°C), Sundargarh (9°C) and Bhawanipatna (9.8°C).
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack also saw a slight increase in the minimum temperature, recording 14.6°C and 12.8°C, respectively compared to 15°C and 13.6°C the previous day.
According to the IMD, the minimum temperature may hover around 14-15°C in the state capital during the next seven days, while the mercury levels may touch 12-13°C in Cuttack.
