Bhubaneswar: Odisha may get a centre for research in advanced health sciences soon. The Odisha state government is discussing the same with authorities of AIG Hospitals in Hyderabad for a collaboration, according to a TOI report. A senior VP of the AIG Hospitals, Santosh Kumar Sahoo mentioned to the reporters while addressing them that
the plan to develop the facility is at a preliminary stage.
The centre was would focus on medical research. It will also impart training to the academics. According to the law minister of the state, who also spoke to the reporters, the proposal would soon be discussed between Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi, the health minister and the chairman of AIG.
The government was also attempting to join hands with the hospital for liver transplantation procedures at Cuttack. They were aiming to do the same at SCB Medical College and Hospital. Sahoo informed that two such procedures had been conducted in the Cuttack hospital between 2024 and 2025. But the same had been stopped after the lapse of agreement between AIG and the state government.
