Agitation Against Closure Of Hostels 'Spreads' COVID-19 In Utkal Varsity,



Bhubaneswar: The hostels of Utkal University will continue as usual and no decision on closure has been taken as yet. Such a decision will be taken keeping in view the COVID-19 situation in the state, said Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo.

The Minister’s statement came after hundreds of Utkal University student

s blocked the National Highway today morning protesting Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) decision to shut hostels due to a surge in COVID-19 cases.

The protesters, including girls, sat on the National Highway and shouted slogans. They urged the civic body to revoke the decision.

The commuters had a harrowing time in reaching their destinations as vehicular communication was disrupted from Rasulgarh to Acharya Vihar and Rupali Square to Vani Vihar Chhak.
