Odisha Minister Naba Das Killing: Crime Branch Sleuths Reach Accused Cop’s Village; Know Who Were Questioned

Berhampur: Giving pace to the probe into the murder of Odisha Minister Naba Kishore Das, Crime Branch sleuths visited the village of accused police official Gopak Krushna Das near Berhampur in Ganjam district and questioned his family members on Tuesday.

A 4-member team of Crime Branch reached Jaleswarkhandi village near Berhampur and visited the accused police official’s house. The team members questioned the family members of the accused ASI as part of the investigation, sources said.

The police official’s  elder brother, Satyanarayan Das was reportedly picked up by Crime Branch sleuths from his home at Jaleswarkhandi for questioning. Futrher details are awaited.

Without sharing details, Crime Branch DSP Shishir Mishra told reporters that the investigation is now in its preliminary stage. The team members visited the house of the accused ASI and his family members, including wife, are being questioned at present.

Similarly, a special team of the Crime Branch questioned the personal security officer (PSO) of deceased Minister Naba Das. The team members also questioned the driver of Naba Das in connection with his murder, the sources added.

It may be noted here that Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das was shot at allegedly by Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Police Gopal Krushna Das while proceeding to attend an event at Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district on Sunday. He succumbed to the bullet injury at a hospital in Bhubaneswar the same evening.

The Crime Branch is trying to ascertain as to why and how the accused ASI killed the Minister.
