Bhubaneswar: Hitting out at the Odisha government over ongoing probe into Naba Kishore Das’ murder, BJP stalwart and leader of opposition (LoP) Jayanarayan Mishra said police claim about recovery of a diary of accused policeman Gopal Das has created suspicion.
Alleging a deep rooted conspiracy behind the Minister’s murder, he said the claim made by the police that it has recovered a diary of the dismissed assistant sub-inspector (ASI) shows its attempt to present a new story to the mystery.
“The diary story creates suspicion about the intention of the police. I doubt if Gopal Das was in the habit of writing diary,” Mishra said.
The senior BJP leader further claimed that something may be written in the diary to show that Gopal committed the murder only because of personal anger and no other person is behind the mysterious killing.
They may even make Gopal write something in the diary in a bid to confuse peple and protect someone, he claimed.
The BJP leader sought to know as to why the state government and the police were so desperate if Gopal murdered the Minister due to personal anger and dislike.
Alleging that misleading information was given on the time of Naba Das’ death, Mishra claimed that attempts are being to protect the accused as there is a big conspiracy in the crime. The conspiracy must be unraveled, he added.
While the Crime Branch since the beginning of its probe tried to show that Gopal was mentally unsound, now the diary story is being used to suppress the sensational murder case, the firebrand leader claimed.
It may be recalled that the Gopal allegedly shot Naba Das in the chest at Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district on January 29. Naba Das succumbed to bullet injuries hours later at a Bhubaneswar hospital the same evening.
