Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch team of Odisha Police, which is investigating the murder of Minister Naba Kishore Das, has recovered a bullet fired in the incident from the spot.
The investigating team along with ballistic experts visited the spot in Brajrajnagar of Jharsuguda district on Thursday. “During inspection of the vehicle and the crime spot by scientific officer and ballistic sxperts using FARO 3-D scanner, one fired bullet, which is a valuable piece of evidence, was recovered,” said the Crime Branch in a release.
“A team, led by DSP, CID CB carried out verification of medical treatment records and financial behavior of accused ASI Gopal Das in Berhampur. The team was also engaged in examination of the near and dear ones of Gopal to ascertain the pleas made by him. Interrogation of his elder brother has been completed,” said the CB.
Following the revelation by the accused during interrogation that he had thrown the papers, mentioning the details of his motive behind the crime, in the toilet of Airport Police Station in Jharsuguda, a CB team retrieved 12 handwritten notes from the septic tank. Those will be sent to forensics and handwriting experts for reconstruction and examination.
Meanwhile, the preserved viscera of the deceased has been sent to the SFSL in Bhubaneswar for chemical examination.
The additional director general of police, Crime Branch is camping at the spot and monitoring the investigation.
It may be noted that Gopal Das fired at minister Naba Das while he was going to attend a public function in Brajrajnagar on Sunday. The minister was flown to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. But he succumbed the same evening.
