Bhubaneswar: Taking a dig at Odisha government over the killing of Health Minister Naba Das by a policeman, senior BJP leader and Union Minister Arjun Munda on Saturday demanded probe by an able and independent agency into the crime.
During a visit to the state, Munda told reporters in Bhubaneswar that the gruesome murder of the minister was an unfortunate incident which raised serious questions about law and order situation in Odisha.
Asking the state government to take a serious note of the killing, the Tribal Affairs Minister said such a change in mindset in a police personnel that led him to fire at the Minister and kill him raises serious questions about the condition of common people.
“If such a situation can arise between a Minister and police, what will be the position of common people? Whom can the common people believe and trust under such circumstances,” he asked.
Therefore, investigation into the murder should be conducted by an able and independent agency to ensure a fair and impartial probe, the senior BJP leader said, adding that the outcome of the investigation should be made public.
While the Crime Branch of Odisha police is investigating the murder, leaders of BJP and other political parties have been demanding a CBI probe into the killing.
