Bhubaneswar: In a bid to raise the spirit of government employees, Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Monday used a Hindi film dialogue to show how they can curb corruption.

“Agar police chahe to koi mandir ke samne se ek chappal tak nahi chura sakta,” delivered this dialogue from Ajay Devgn-starrer Singham to thunderous applause from the audience at a meeting of supply assistants.

While addressing the meeting, Patra used the film dialogue to tell supply assistants to be vigilant in checking corruption in mandis in the state.

“You must have seen Singham film in which Ajay Devgn said ‘agar police chahega to mandir se ek bhi chappl chori ho nahin sakta’. Similarly, I would like to tell you ‘agar aap chahenge to mandi main ek bhi bhrastchari bach nahin payega’,” the Minister said.

Patra also referred to Mahabharat and spoke about the ‘Bhisma Sarasajya’ episode where Bhisma was lying on a bed of arrows. Krishna explained to Bhisma that though he had not done anything wrong, he was suffering because he had silently watched Draupadi being disrobed, said Patra.

Similarly, action would be taken against wrongdoers, those who are abetting them and those who are just standing by and watching, the Minister said.

Patra said wherever he goes he speaks on how the working style of the previous government was different and how they were resorting to loot and corruption.

Stating that he has thoroughly studied the department in last four months, the Minister said he has the details of who was indulging in misappropriation. It has already been made clear that not only the thieves but also their associates will be taken to task, he said.
