Odisha: Missing Boy’s Mutilated Body Found Hanging In Forest; Locals Block Road, Set Afire Police Van

Angul: Tension gripped Subarnapur village under Kiakata police limits in Odisha Angul district after the mutilated body of a 14-year-old boy, who went missing on July 23, was found hanging from a tree in Barini forest on Friday.

The irate villagers set a police van on fire, alleging tardy investigation. They suspect that the minor boy, identified as Sanjeev Biswal, could have been killed as human sacrifice since both his hands and limbs have been chopped off.

According to sources, the boy’s mother, Basanti Biswal, took him to Goddess Mangala temple at Tusar village in Angul to perform certain rituals when he fell ill while visiting a relative there. The mother-son duo slept on the temple premises after performing the rituals in the evening. The boy, however, was found missing the following morning.

The family members launched a frantic search for him but in vain. Basanti lodged a missing complaint at Kiakata Police Station on July 24.

Irked over the incident, the villagers blocked Athmallik-Kiakata road and sought exemplary punishment for the killers. They also set afire the van of Kiakata police team which reached the spot on being alerted.

Meanwhile, police have detained one person in this connection.
