Khurda: Body of Om Prakash Rath, a 21-year-old physiotherapy student, was found floating in the water-filled stone quarry at Tapang area near Jatni in Odisha’s Khurda district around 8.35 am on Friday.
The body has been retrieved and the family informed to identify it, sources said.
The student was feared drowned after attempting to save his friend who had slipped into the water while making reels on Monday afternoon. Multiple rescue teams had mounted a huge campaign to trace OM over the next 3 days but in vain. A start-up of National Institute of Technology (NIT)-Rourkela also engaged a robot and sound navigation and ranging (sonar) system to find the youth. Besides Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) and Odisha Fire and Emergency Service, teams from INS Chilika and NDRF too joined the operation on Thursday.
A native of native of Ranapur in Nayagarh district, he was pursuing a physiotherapy course from Abhinav Bindra Sports Medicine and Research Institute (ABSMARI) near Pahal, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
