Papadahandi: After last year’s electoral victory, Dabugaon MLA Manohar Randhari is now winning hearts by his act of kindness. He and his associates carried a pregnant woman in a sling for 5 km through hilly terrains and helped her reach Maidalpur primary health centre at Papadahandi in Odisha‘s Nabarangpur district on Monday.
The woman, Jema Behera of Kusumikhunti village under Maidalpur panchayat, complained of labour pain this morning. The non-motorable road to the village made it impossible for an ambulance to reach there. After coming to know about the women’s predicament, Randhari immediately left for the village and on reaching there, made a sling with the help of locals. He then picked one end of the stick to which the sling was attached and walked approximately 5 km with others holding onto to the other end of it.
He then shifted the woman to his car and drove off to Papadahandi hospital.
He was accompanied by Dabugaon block vice-chairman Trinath Pradhan, RCMC president Sushant Behera, family members of Jema and other villagers.
The MLA later assured the villagers that he would soon get a pucca road constructed in the locality.
