Malkangiri: In a rare step, Odisha MLA Mangu Khilla visited his village located in a remote area of Malkangiri district after rowing across a swollen river.
Khilla, MLA from tribal-dominated Chitrakonda in Malkangiri, travelled to his village Gajiaguda to hear the grievances of the villagers.
Accompanied by supporters, the legislator travelled in a country boat to reach the village, located under Govindpalli panchayat of Khairput block. This was his first visit to the village after the 2024 elections.
The legislator was accorded a rousing welcome by the villagers in traditional style soon after his arrival there. Locals, who were eagerly waiting for his arrival, took him in a procession to the venue of an event where he listened to them and learnt about their problems.
Ahead of the elections, Khilla had promised to the people that he would take concrete steps to ensure completion of the construction work of a bridge in the area. The construction work has been delayed and the villagers want steps for its speedy completion.
