Balasore: For the first time in Odisha, a legislator has tested positive for COVID-19.
According to reports, the BJP’s Nilagiri MLA Sukanta Kumar Nayak had visited Bhubaneswar recently. After returning to Balasore, he developed flu-like symptoms. As he felt uneasy, he went for the COVID-19 test two days ago. The test report was found positive on Monday. Following which, Nayak was admitted to the COVID hospital in Balasore.
Talking to the media, Nayak said that he had attended a number of meetings in Bhubaneswar and his home constituency and conducted a meeting of the women self-help groups (SHGs). Apart from this, he had conducted a meeting at Chhatrapur village in Nilagiri tehsil with Balasore MP Pratap Sarangi two days ago.
Asked about the matter, Balasore collector K Sudarshan Chakravarty said that the contact tracing of the MLA is underway.
