Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s BJP MLA from Nilagiri Sukanta Nayak has tested positive for COVID-19 for the third time in a span of 18 months.
His test results were found positive on Wednesday and he is under home quarantine, the lawmaker told PTI.
Nayak was the first legislator from Odisha to have contracted the infection in July 2020, following which he was admitted to a COVID-19 Hospital in Balasore. He was again found positive for the virus in September that year.
The swab samples of Nayak, who is double vaccinated, has been sent for genome sequencing, the report added.
According to Health Department sources, over 50 MLAs, six MPs and 11 ministers in Odisha have been infected since the outbreak of COVID in 2020.
