Odisha-Mo Parivar Team Rescues Four Youths Trapped In Dubai

Bhubaneswar: After being detained and tortured in Dubai for two months, four Odia youths from Jajpur were welcomed by members of Odisha-Mo Parivar after they arrived from Kolkata on Tuesday.

According to reports, two brokers of Nathapur village in Jajpur district, Ashok Kumar Jena and his brother Subash had sent the foursome to Dubai with a promise to provide them jobs. Dipak Kumar Sethi, Sanjay Kumar Jena and Bijay Kumar Sahu are from Kolanagiri village while Chiranjibi Jena belongs to Areikana village. However, after working there for some days, they were subject to brutal torture by the company officials. While three youths managed to return to Odisha, the fourth, who had joined them later, could not return as the broker who had sent them, lodged a case against them in a local labour court in Dubai.

After coming to know of their plight, a local scribe of Jajpur, Tapan Bhanja informed the Chairman of Odisha-Mo Parivar, Arun Patnaik, Special Secretary to Chief Minister Gopabandhu Das and senior OAS officer Rabindra Sethi who took up the matter with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

The Chief Minister directed senior lawyer of Supreme Court and legal adviser of Odisha-Mo Parivar, Abanikanta Sahu and the Chief Resident Commissioner of Odisha in New Delhi Ravi Kant to take immediate action. The Chief Resident Commissioner got in touch with the Indian High Commission in Dubai, which provided legal assistance to the youths.

After the case was set aside by the Labour Court, they boarded a flight and arrived in Kolkata on Tuesday. After providing them food at Utkal Bhawan, the officials sent them on a train to Bhubaneswar.

Upon arrival at the city railway station, the youths were taken to the Odisha-Mo Parivar office and welcomed by the co-convener and Mahakalapada MLA Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, adviser Bibekananda Patnaik and Bhubaneswar-North MLA Sushant Rout in the presence of Gopabandhu Das and Rabindra Sethi.
