Bhubaneswar: Union Minister and Balasore MP Pratap Sarangi has urged Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to take comprehensive measures on persistent flood problems faced by people of Bhograi block in his parliamentary constituency.
In the letter, Sarangi requested flood mitigating measures for safeguarding the lives and livelihood of the people inhabiting hundred flood-prone villages in the region.
Balasore district has been facing this problem since years and during the season of the southwest monsoon, major rivers flowing through the district swell, leading to flood-like situations, he said.
“This has been the long-standing demand of the people of my constituency which led to several popular unrests in the past,” he said and forwarded a representation received from President, Subarna Rekha Flood Committee, Bhograi.
