Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Sunday unearthed a multi-storey building, 36 plots, 250 grams of gold and Rs 2.38 lakh in cash during raids on Golap Chandra Hansdah, a Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) in Boudh district.
Bank and postal deposits worth Rs 56 lakh were also detected during the simultaneous searches at 6 places in Baripada, Boudh, and Bhubaneswar by teams led by 4 DSPs, 7 inspectors, and other supporting staff on the strength of the search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada.
Hansdah had also spent Rs 40 lakh on the education of his daughter, a Vigilance release said.
Assets found in the name the MVI and his family members are as follows:
1. One double-storey building over 3300 sqft area at Prafulla Nagar, Baripada, Mayurbhanj district.
2. 36 high-value plots (35 plots in and around Baripada town and one at Sribantpur, Balasore town).
3. Rs 2,38,725 in cash.
4. Bank and postal deposits worth Rs 56 lakh
4. 250 gram of gold jewellery and 400 gram of silver ornaments.
5. Rs 40 lakhs spent on the medical education of his daughter.
5. 1 four wheeler (Hyundai Creta) & 3 two wheelers.
The measurement and valuation/assessment of the building/ plots are being carried out by the Vigilance Technical Wing. Other deposits & investments are also being ascertained, it added.
SERVICE DETAILS
Hansdah joined government service as an IPO on 18.04.1991 and worked in the DIC offices of Sambalpur and Deogarh. He was promoted as Junior MVI in 2003 and worked at Taparia Check Gate in Sundergarh, Laxmidunguri Check Gate in Sambalpur, and later in the RTO offices of Mayurbhanj and Bargarh. In 2020, he was promoted to MVI and posted to the RTO office in Boudh.
His monthly present salary is Rs 1.08 lakh.
