Baleshwar: In a shocking incident, a Junior Engineer (JE) working with the Nilagiri Notified Area Council (NAC) in Odisha’s Baleshwar district was found dead under suspicious circumstances inside his rented house on Wednesday.
The deceased, identified as Debashis Prusti, had been transferred from Basudevpur Municipality in Bhadrak district and had joined Nilagiri NAC around three months ago.
According to sources, Debashis was staying as a tenant in the house of one Manoj Kumar Das at Barisahi under Ward No. 5 in the town. He had attended office on Monday, but did not report for duty on Tuesday. His colleagues tried to contact him over phone, but did not get any response.
Concerned colleagues went to his rented accommodation and found the door locked from inside. Despite repeated calls, there was no response. Finally, the door was broken open and Debashis was found lying on the floor inside the house. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The exact reason behind the death of JE is yet to be ascertained. Police have started investigation into the matter.
