Odisha Native Dies In Bahrain; Body Flown To Delhi, To Arrive In State By Road Today

Bhubaneswar: Mortal remains of an Odia youth, who died of cardiac arrest in Bahrain, was flown back to India in an Air India flight last night. It will be taken to Visakhapatnam by air and brought to Odisha by road, sources said on Friday.

The deceased, identified as Purusottam Sahu, is a native of Chhatrapur in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

According to sources, Purusottam, who was working with a firm in Bahrain, suffered a stroke at 1.30 pm on Saturday. He was taken to Salmaniya hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

When his family got to know of his death, they sought help of Arun Kumar Praharaj, the founder of Odia Samaj in Bahrain. Praharaj contacted the Indian Ambassador and the company in this regard and arranged for the body to be flown back to India after getting the postmortem report report and necessary clearance from the police there.

Expressing grief over Purusottam’s demise, Praharaj said, “The body could have reached Odisha faster had there been a direct flight between Bahrain and Bhubaneswar,” he said while making an appeal to the central and state governments for the same.

On the other hand, the bereaved family members are waiting for the body at Chhatrapur. Purusottam is survived by his parents, wife and a son.
