Bhubaneswar: Kerala police on Wednesday arrested a man from Odisha’s Kandhamal for allegedly killing his girlfriend in the southernmost state on west coast of India.
The accused has been identified as Samuel Badamajhi, a resident of Rangapanga village under Kotgarh police limits.
Though married, Samuel got into an illicit affair with Ritika Sahu in Kandhamal and they left for Kerala in search of work. They had an altercation when Ritika later confronted him after an inkling about his marriage. Following which, Samuel allegedly stabbed her with a sharp-edged knife in a fit of rage.
Samuel returned to Kandhamal leaving Ritika in a critical condition. She later succumbed to her injuries.
Kerala police started an investigation into the incident on the basis of a complaint lodged by Ritika’s father and zeroed in on Samuel. He was apprehended from his in-laws house following a raid with the help of Kotgarh police, sources said.
