Bhubaneswar: Gurundia and Subdega were crowned champions in girls’ and boys’ categories, respectively, in the second Odisha Naval Tata Hockey Grassroot League which concluded on August 20.
Gurundia girls lifted the trophy beating Kahupani 2-1 in the final. Subdega earned third place following a 2-1 win over Purnapani.
In the boys’ final, Subdega overcame Dhenkanal 3-1. Gurundia downed Kadobahal 2-0 in the bronze-medal clash.
The tournament was held in two phases. The top 8 teams from first phase — which was held earlier this year featuring 14 Grassroot Centres of Odisha Naval Tata Hockey HPC — qualified for the final phase.
The final phase was held from August 17-20 at Kalinga Stadium.
