Bhubaneswar: Gurundia and Subdega were crowned champions in girls’ and boys’ categories, respectively, in the second Odisha N
aval Tata Hockey Grassroot League which concluded on August 20.
Gurundia girls lifted the trophy beating Kahupani 2-1 in the final. Subdega earned third place following a 2-1 win over Purnapani.
In the boys’ final, Subdega overcame Dhenkanal 3-1. Gurundia downed Kadobahal 2-0 in the bronze-medal clash.
The tournament was held in two phases. The top 8 teams from first phase — which was held earlier this year featuring 14 Grassroot Centres of Odisha Naval Tata Hockey HPC — qualified for the final phase.
The final phase was held from August 17-20 at Kalinga Stadium.
