Under the scheme, eligible women aged between 21 and 60 years receive financial assistance of Rs 50,000 over five years, distributed in two annual instalments. The amount is credited directly to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts on International Women’s Day (March 8) and Raksha Bandhan.
However, women belonging to families with an annual income above Rs 2.5 lakh and households owning a four-wheeler or commercial vehicle are not eligible to get benefit under the scheme.
