Malkangiri: Newly elected Congress MLA from Chitrakonda constituency in Malkangiri district Mangu Khilla has been admitted to hospital after being bitten by a snake, suspected to be venomous.
As per sources, the incident took place near his residence in Kudumuluguma in the tribal-dominated district on Wednesday.
Mangu was immediately admitted to Kudumulguma health centre in Malkangiri district for treatment. His condition is stated to be stable now.
However, doctor treating him at the hospital said that the newly elected MLA was suspected to have been bitten by a scorpion and he is safe.
Mangu Khilla contested the assembly poll from Chitrakonda on a Congress ticket. He emerged victorious by defeating Dambaru Sisa of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by a margin of over 9159 votes.
