Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that the state government will not tolerate if banks are found to neglect credit disbursement to different livelihood programmes launched to counter the impact of the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, according to a report in Odisha TV.
While reviewing the COVID-19 situation in the state and the government’s efforts in handling those matters, Naveen said this on Thursday.
The chief minister had earlier unveiled several livelihood programmes for farmers, members of Mission Shakti, MSME and others affected due to outbreak of the disease.
In order to bail the vulnerable groups out of the pandemic situation, the banks were asked to disburse adequate credit.
“The Chief Minister will take a review of the credit disbursement to different livelihood programmes with district magistrates and bank authorities on December 22,” said an official statement.
“The state will not tolerate negligence in disbursement of credit to the livelihood programmes. The state government will lodge complaint against the erring banks if found neglecting credit disbursement,” Naveen said.
Odisha government will write to the Finance Ministry on December 22 on the erring banks, said a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office.
