Berhampur: The secretary to Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Southern Division, in Odisha’s Berhmapur will continue as registrar in-charge of Khallikote Unitary University.
The additional secretary to Chancellor, Chitaranjan Mohanty, wrote a letter to additional secretary to the government along with the general administration and public grievance department on Monday regarding the continuation of secretary to RDC Ranjan Kumar Biswal as in-charge registrar of the university, in addition to his own duty, till the joining of a new registrar.
“In the interest of this newly created University, Hon’ble Chancellor has also been pleased to pass order that Sri Ranjan Kumar Biswal, OAS(S), Secretary to RDC Southern Division, Berhampur may be kept as In-charge Registrar, Khallikote Unitary University, Berhampur in addition to his own duty till joining of a new Registrar in the University as he has shown good performance during his earlier tenure as Registrar (In-charge), Khallikote University and Berhampur University. The orders of Government in the matter is solicited in the interest of the University,” read the letter.
It is pertinent to mention here that 112 teaching posts, including ranks of professor, associate professor, and assistant professor in 16 departments, were created at the university by the Higher Education department on October 7.
With the creation of 16 new professor posts, the number has increased to 32 while it is 64 in case assistant professor posts.
Currently, 56 among 88 posts for regular teaching staff in 18 departments are lying vacant and the university is being run by 53 guest faculties due to the absence of permanent faculty members. The new posts would be filled up through direct recruitment as per Section-21 of the Odisha Universities Act, 1989.
