Bhubaneswar: Olympian Dutee Chand, an ace sprinter from Odisha, has moved court against a web portal journalist and an RTI activist, levelling charges of criminal intimidation, publishing obscene content and insulting modesty of woman.
She has filed a Rs 5 crore defamation case as well as criminal cases against web portal journalist Sudhansu Sekhar Rout and RTI activist Pradip Pradhan.
Seeking justice, an emotional Dutee said at a press meet in Bhubaneswar on Thursday that she may quit Odisha if she didn’t get justice.
Recalling that she had struggled a lot since childhood to become an Olympian, Dutee revealed how her tormentors distracted her.
When she was preparing for the 200m event at the Tokyo Olympics, two people ran a malicious campaign against her including posts in social media.
Dutee participated in both 100m and 200m women’s sprints at Tokyo, but was eliminated in early rounds.
