Odisha On COVID-19 Alert: Konark Sun Temple Off Tourists Radar For 7 days

Puri: To contain spread of the novel coronavirus at tourists spots, Puri Collector Balwant Singh on Sunday said people have to asked not to crowd beaches in Puri.

“The administration has barred entry of tourists buses, running in the district, especially those which people reserve and travel in groups,” he said.

Singh further said that the administration being the district authority has directed the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, to close down Sun Temple in Konark for at least seven days.

“The 13th century temple is frequented by international and national tourists and a decision to reopen it will be asked after studying the situation,” he added.
