Odisha On High Alert After Delhi Blast; CM Mohan Majhi, LoP Naveen Patnaik Mourn Loss Of Lives

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police sounded high alert at all major religious and strategic installations, including the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, following the blast in New Delhi that claimed several lives on Monday.

Following the blast, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi spoke to the Director General of Police (DGP) over phone and asked him to take immediate steps to enhance security measures at all important places across the state.

Police forces were asked to remain in a state of high alert and make proper security arrangements, keeping in view events like Bali Jatra in Cuttack, the Chief Minister’s Office said in a statement.

A senior police official said that all field units have been put on high alert and security measures tightened at all important structures and religious sites.

Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, all important religious places, vital installations are under security cove, while police patrolling has been enhanced substantially, he said.

Special security arrangements have also been made at the beach, railway station, bus stands, and other crowded areas in the pilgrim town.

Security has been tightened at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Balasore and other defence installations in the state.

In Puri, the authorities have tightened security in and around Shree Jagannath temple, at the Grand Road, on the beach, Puri bus stand and railway station, according to Puri SP Prateek Singh.

The Inspectors In-Charge (IICs) of all police stations at Puri have been asked to intensify patrolling to prevent any untoward incident.

The Chief Minister as well as Leader of Opposition (LoP) expressed deep sorrow over the loss of so many precious lives in the explosion that took place near the Red Fort in the national capital in the evening, claiming at least ten lives and leaving many injured.
