Bhubaneswar: With the School and Mass Education department making tall claims of spending crores to improve the government school infrastructure, only 2 per cent of such schools have internet facilities.
This was disclosed in the Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) report 2019-20 academic session, which covered both government and private schools. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ released the data on Thursday.
The report said that only 8615 (16.18%) schools among 53,260 government schools in Odisha have computer facilities, with 8500 being functional. Only 1450 (2.72%) government schools are with internet facilities and it is 35 per cent for the 2231 private schools.
