Shutdown in Puri
Puri: An oxygen plant will be set up in Puri, Mass Education Minister Sameer Ranjan Das informed on Tuesday.
The construction work will start from May 15, the minister said after a review meeting.
Also, a COVID ward will be opened at Sri Jagannath Medical College and Hospital in Puri in a week. As many as 150 COVID beds with oxygen facility will be available in the hospital.
Notably, Puri district registered 436 more COVID-19 positive cases on Wednesday. Till Tuesday, 1,884 COVID-19 patients were undergoing treatment in the district.
Sources said there are facilities of 1,200 beds in 11 blocks and three NACs in the district.
Dash also informed that 1,92,048 people have taken first dose of the vaccine and 7,512 have taken the second dose.
The review meeting was held at the circuit house in the presence of district Collector Samarth Verma, the CDMO and administrative officers.
