Sundargarh: A woman candidate for panchayat samiti member from Gobindapur under Bonai block in Sundargarh district was reportedly critically injured after she was attacked by unknown persons on Sunday.
The victim, identified as Puspita Jena, was returning home after campaigning when the incident took place. She was admitted to hospital and, according to reports, her condition is critical.
The reports said she was first rushed to Bonai hospital. Later, she was shifted to Rourkela Government Hospital.
She was allegedly attacked by three men who were on a bike.
Police have begun investigations.
