Dhenkanal: Anjali Behera, former Odisha minister and three-time BJD MLA from Hindol constituency, has filed her nomination for the post of panchayat samiti member of Giridhar Prasad in Dhenkanal district.
A two-time minister, she held important portfolios like Handloom and Women’s and Child Welfare Department in Odisha.
“Contesting in the panchayat polls will give me an opportunity to be closer to grassroots,” she was quoted as saying in reports.
The BJD had suspended her in 2014 over alleged anti-party activities. Later, she joined the BJP.
