Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the announcement of dates for the three-tier panchayat polls, the State Election Commission (SEC) on Thursday released the list of election symbols.
Of total 66 symbols issued by the Commission, 15 are for ward members, 32 for sarpanches, 19 for panchayat samiti members and 19 for independent Zilla Parishad members.
The candidates, except for Zilla Parishad, will be allotted from among these symbols in the election.
The candidates nominated by different parties will contest for the Zilla Parishad seats on respective party’s symbol.
Meanwhile, the Commission has stated that the preparations for the elections are in the last stage. The printing of ballot papers are underway in government press, it added.
