Bhubaneswar: It takes courage for parents to donate their child’s organs after death, especially if the child is a minor.
The parents of Divyashree, a six-year-old girl from Odisha, showed exemplary courage by saving three lives in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by donating her organs after death.
The only daughter of Arun Kumar and Kirti, a couple from Jeypore area in Koraput district residing in the UAE, Divyashree was suffering from pulmonary hypertension (PH), a type of blood pressure that affects the arteries in the lungs and heart.
She died a few days ago while undergoing treatment at a hospital. Her parents decided to donate her organs after that.
Her kidneys were recently transplanted in a 7-year-old baby boy from India in the UAE and a 15-year-old minor boy in Abu Dhabi. Her liver was transplanted in a person in Saudi Arabia.
“Now we can see our daughter in three persons,” said Divyashree’s father.
