Nabarangpur: Two children were killed when a pick-up van, carrying potatoes, onions and groceries, rammed into a house at Jharabahal village u
nder Chandahandi block in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district on Monday.
According to sources, the accident took place when the driver lost control over the vehicle while driving to a nearby market. Five members of a family- (60), Manisha Gopal (27), Sachin (10), Satikanta (9), Nandini (7) and Ashok (9) and one Damurudhar Hati, sitting around a bonfire outside the house, sustained critical injuries in the crash.
They were rushed to a nearby hospital, but two among the children succumbed to their injuries mid-way. The rest have been admitted to the Bhawanipatna hospital.
Damurudhar, a resident of Jamadarpada village, had come to Jharabahala to meet a prospective bride for his son. The accident took place when he was about to return to his village this morning, the sources added.
