Sambalpur: Two poems of noted Kosali poet Haldhar Nag Halhar — ‘Pancha Amruta’ and ‘Chitti Deuchhen Re Haldhar’ — has been included in a new book of translated peoms by lyricist and filmmaker Gulzar.
Gulzar’s book ‘A Poem Day’ is a collection of 365 Indian contemporary poems in 34 languages by 279 poets across the country. He has selected and translated all the poems.
On the first page of the book, Gulzar writes ‘Dear Haldhar, you are like sunrise of my book’.
Gulzar has also sent a copy of book along with a letter to the Kosali poet. He has also mentioned in the letter to meet Haldhar personally.
Gulzar had penned a moving tribute to the noted poet in a short film in 2019. Documentary filmmaker Bharatbala had created the short film on Haldhar Nag under his new project Virtual Bharat. The short movie was produced by Studio Virtual Bharat.
The movie has showcased Haldhar’s village Ghens in Bargarh district of Odisha.
Felicitated with the Padma Shri in 2016, Haldhar Nag’s original works are in Sambalpuri dialect and in Odia script.
