Odisha Police Assures Oil Companies Support To Prevent Pilferage

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police is committed to extend all support to the oil companies to prevent pilferage, said Director General of Police (DGP) RP Sharma while presiding over the first On-Shore Coordination Committee meeting on the security of oil and gas companies in Odisha at Police Bhawan in the city here on Friday.

Issues like sharing of information for preventing pilferages, arrest of masterminds and monitoring the activities of habitual oil criminals, confiscation of storage property of oil looters, coordination with police of neighbouring states, patrolling on roads,  toll gates, state borders, check post etc in vulnerable stretches to check documents of oil tankers, constitution of a dedicated task force for coordination and analysis of all incidents and information available with various police stations across the districts and police of neighbouring states etc were discussed in detail.

The meeting unanimously decided to have regular patrolling and periodic joint patrolling of pipeline and nearby vulnerable areas with the assistance of local police.

Regular raids by the local police shall be undertaken to stop en-route pilferage of oil tankers at the supply locations. Police patrolling shall be increased by local police at the supply locations. Illegal encroachments shall be removed as and when necessary in and around the supply locations.

The meeting was attended by senior officials the state government, CRPF, SIB and all oil marketing companies (OMCs) like IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, and ONGC.

The keynote address was given by Convener (OSCC) BK Ravi, Advisor Security, Indian Oil while the nodal officer of OSCC, Odisha Pritish Bharat, CGM, IOCL, Odisha delivered the welcome address.
