Odisha Police Bust Gaon Sathi Murder Case; Cite Illicit Affair Behind Crime

Sundargarh: Three days after the recovery of severed body parts of Ramesh Singh of Bhabanipur village and Gaon Sathi of Karei Panchayat in Sundargarh district, the police on Monday arrested a woman and her son-in-law.

Briefing mediapersons, Sundargarh SP Sagarika Nath said the deceased had an illicit relationship with the woman of Bhabanipur village for a long time. After their relationship came to the fore, there was unrest in her family.

“To eliminate Ramesh, the woman and her son-in-law of the woman hatched a plan. As per the plan, on January 13 the son-in-law invited Ramesh to a feast in the house of the woman. During the feast, they offered liquor to Ramesh. While he was drinking liquor, the woman hacked his neck with an axe, killing him on the spot. To dispose of his body, they severed the body into six parts and threw some in a field and the remaining parts in a pond on the outskirts of the village,” the SP said, adding that the accused were later forwarded to the court.
