Malkangiri: A team of Odisha Police seized a huge quantity of arms, ammunition and and explosive materials near Kusumput under Jodambo police limits of Malkangiri district on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, personnel of the Special Operation Group (SOG) and District Voluntary Force (DVF) carried out a search operation and busted the Maoist dump and recovered arms, explosives, IEDs, and other materials, police said.
The seized materials include two 303 riffles, two gas guns, four country-made guns, two IEDs, one HE grenade, 20 detonators, a camera flash, printer, battery, solar panel, 7m electric wire, 2m cordex wire, six red cloths, ammunition pouch, torchlight, a blue polythene, a pair of dress and chappal, an umbrella and water jar.
The seized materials were intended to be used against civilians and security forces, the police said in a release, describing the seizure as a major jolt to the subversive and anti-national designs of Maoists in the area.
