Bhubaneswar: Odisha DGP Y B Khurania on Wednesday suspended former IIC of Kujang police station, Tapan Nahak, for gross misconduct and abusing his official position.
“….a disciplinary proceeding is being contemplated… He will remain under the disciplinary control of DIG, Cuttack, during the period the order remains in force,” the official notification said.
This came a day after Nahak was transferred to district police headquarters. This followed a complaint lodged by a female home guard on Monday, accusing him of maintaining a physical relationship with her under false promise of marriage.
He allegedly established a physical relationship with the home guard while serving as Additional IIC at the Jagatsinghpur police station, where she was also posted. However, he started avoiding her after being transferred to Kujang police station as the IIC.
Notably, Nahak is married and has children.
In 2023, he was placed under suspension while serving as IIC of Phiringia police station for negligence of duty. He reportedly fled the police station during violence linked to allegations of involvement of cops in illegal ganja trade.
