Odisha Police Leave For New Delhi In Search Of Missing AIIMS Student

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police which is probing into the missing of Suhail Ajjaj, a Kashmiri student of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar, left for New Delhi on Thursday following information about his presence there.

As informed by Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi, a three-member team of Khandagiri Police left for New Delhi in the morning after receiving information from Suhail’s father Ajjaz Ahmed Kataria who had received a call from a Public Call Office (PCO) in Gurgaon area on Wednesday informing that some people have seen his son.

He said the team, after reaching Gurgaon, will have a meeting with the local police. It will locate the PCO from where Suhail’s father had received a call. Besides, the team will also meet the people of Jammu and Kashmir living in Gurgaon to elicit more details about the missing AIIMS student, he added.

Earlier, a three-member team of commissionerate police which had gone to Kolkata in search of Suhail Ajjaz, a Kashmiri student of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar, returned empty handed on March 3 after it failed to trace his whereabouts.

Apart from the Odisha Police, the West Bengal and Jammu & Kashmir Police and the Central Intelligence Bureau had a frantic search for Suhail in Kolkata, but to no avail.

An MBBS second-year student and a native of Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir, Suhail left the hostel on February 9 telling his friends that he was leaving for a marriage in Chandigarh and would return in a week. He said he will be travelling through Kolkata. But as he did not return even after nine days, his classmates informed college authorities.

Some friends of Suhail said he was not happy studying medicine which he had mentioned in a note before leaving the hostel. He wanted to complete MBBS and shift to Humanities as he was keen on Urdu poetry and literature.
