Jharsuguda: With two days to go for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Odisha, elaborate security arrangements have been put in place in Jharsuguda.
The Prime Minister will inaugurated the newly-built Jharsuguda airport and a slew of other projects during the one-day visit.
On Thursday, Additional DG of Police Y B Khurania had visited the airport in the western Odisha city and public meeting venue, Amlipali Ground, where around 2 lakh people are expected to congregate.
Khurania reviewed the security arrangements with Special Protection Group (SPG) team and district administration officials.
DIG of Police (Northern Range) Satya Brata Bhoi said 50 platoons of police force will be deployed as a part of Modi’s security arrangement, besides 300 officers, including three of SP rank and six of Commandant rank. “Anti Terrorist Units will also be engaged,” he said.
Around 4.5 km route to the public meeting venue at Amlipali Ground, will be barricaded, he said, adding that CCTV has also been installed at various locations to keep tabs.
On September 22, the Prime Minister will fly to Jharsuguda for the inauguration and flag off a flight under the UDAN scheme to Raipur.
He will dedicate the Garjanbahal open cast mines project of Mahanadi Coal Fields Limited (MCL) and Jharsuguda-Sardega railway line of MCL in Sundargarh district to the people of Odisha and launch the commencement of coal production and transportation from the Dulanga coal mine of NTPC in Sundargarh district.
The Prime Minister will also launch the commencement of work for India’s first coal gasification based fertiliser plant with pet coke blending, marking a significant milestone towards achieving the Centre’s vision of making the country self-sufficient in the production of fertilisers through the revival of closed plants.
