Odisha Police Red-Flags Jatni Minor’s Rape-Murder Case

Bhubaneswar: Twin City police commissioner Satyajit Mohanty on Saturday said the rape and murder of a minor girl at Jatni in Khurda district has been categorised as a red-flag case.

“It will certainly be called a heinous crime and will be dealt with as top priority,” the police commissioner said, adding that a DNA specialist had collected samples from the victim and the crime site. “Besides, experts from the district scientific laboratory have also collected evidence from the crime scene.”

“We are going to expedite the investigation and appeal for maximum possible sentence for the accused. An additional DCP is overseeing the probe and additional CP has also been asked to monitor the proceedings,” he said at a media briefing.

The six-year-old girl was raped and murdered, allegedly by a youth at Mundia Sahi under Jatni police limits in Khurda district, on Thursday night.
