Bhubaneswar: Bodies of three unidentified women were recovered from different locations in Odisha on Friday.
While two bodies were found on railway tracks in Balangir district, the third was seized by police from Kathajodi riverbed in Cuttack.
According to sources, bodies of two women were spotted on railway tracks near Kukudahada village under Kantabanji tehsil. While one body was found on the railway track with legs missing, the other was lying adjacent to the rail line. Their identities are yet to be ascertained.
Locals suspect the women were murdered and the bodies later dumped on railways tracks. Government Railway Police (GRP) have been informed about the incident, sources added.
In Cuttack, a blood-soaked body of a woman with her throat slit was found on the bank of the river near Paramahansa area under Kandarpur police limits. There were also multiple cut marks on her face.
Police, which seized the body for postmortem, also recovered a sharp-edged weapon from the spot.
While prima facia it appears to be a case of murder, police have appealed to people to help identify the woman, who has ‘Om Baba Balia’ inked on her hand. People have been requested to call on 8280338303.
