Bhubaneswar: Further intensifying its probe into the alleged police sub-inspector (SI) recruitment scam in Odisha, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday arrested another person in connection with the examination scandal.
As per sources, the fresh arrest was made by the central investigating agency from another state. While the arrested person has been identified as Neetu Arora, details about the accused are yet to be made available. The arrest indicates that the scam has inter-state links and a wider network.
The accused was reportedly taken into custody after preliminary evi
dence suggested direct involvement in the examination manipulation racket.
Meanwhile, the two-day remand of the arrested middlemen in the case has come to an end. The remand period of accused Muna Mohanty and Abhimanyu Dora, who were earlier taken into CBI custody for questioning, has ended.
The probe agency reportedly grilled them extensively during the remand period to trace money trails, identify key conspirators, and gather details about the modus operandi adopted in the scam.
This apart, the central agency had also taken the mastermind, Srikant Prusty, and Soumya Priyadarshini on remand as part of the same investigation. Sources indicate that crucial information related to the examination leak and involvement of multiple intermediaries has emerged during these interrogations.
Officials said the CBI continues to thoroughly examine documents, digital evidence, and financial transactions linked to the case. Officials have not ruled out further arrests as the investigation progresses.
